Description
French painter known for his lyrical, decorative style with soft colors and flowing shapes. He built up his own oeuvre with landscapes, still lifes and atmospheric compositions. Ribes is also known for his exceptional technical mastery, which later earned him international fame as a master forger. His life and activities were later filmed in the documentary L'Art du Faux (2015). His original works remain popular within the decorative arts market.
