Anna Mes - mixed media on canvas - 150x110 cm

Anna Mes mainly makes large abstract works that stand out because the areas of colour are connected to each other like a patchwork. In these colour areas one finds a lively visual language of surreal signs, carvings and remnants of North Holland landscapes and buildings. Originally a textile designer, she masters many disciplines. Mes gets her inspiration from her walks along the Kamperduin beach near Alkmaar, among other things. During these walks along the coastline, she studies the light and the splendour of colours. In her compositions, that northern light returns again and again, with a bright overexposed color scheme that looks almost Scandinavian.
