Description
German/Bohemian cello (size 4/4) made around 1880 after a model by Jacobus Stainer.
Labeled "Jacobus Stainer Absam prope Oenipontum 1681".
Golden brown in color, LOB 761mm.
Instrument is in very good condition. No cracks or scratches in the varnish layer present. Recently set up a new set of strings by Evah Pirazzi (Soloist). Will be shipped in a wooden case (khaki green).
Instrument was valued in 1982 by Philippe Poisonniez at 200,000 BEF (+/- 4,960€).
In 2002 it was valued by Roland Eeckelaert at 6,000€.
In 2018, the cello was orally valued by a second Belgian violin maker at €12,500.
