Description
Monumental antique safe in wooden cabinet, equipped with an exceptionally heavy steel interior, multi-point locking and decorative front. The safe has a warm wooden casing with a top in black marble and a striking red interior with shelves, which makes this piece not only functional but also very decorative. Due to its authentic appearance, imposing fittings and beautiful presentation, this is a rare object that immediately gives character in both an interior and a business. The brass plate mentions D. Vandeneynden, Constructeur Mécanicien, 96 Bruel, Malines. "Bruel" refers to the historical French name of the Bruul in Mechelen, and Bruul 96 is still a well-known address in the city today. This points to a local Mechelen maker and gives this vault a nice regional anchoring. Probably made in the period ca. 1890-1919, on the basis of similar known vaults with the same plate by D. Vandeneynden, Constructeur Mécanicien, 96 Bruel, Malines, which are placed in that date. The safe is very heavy; An exact weight is not known. Buyers should take into account an adapted collection, sufficient manpower and suitable transport equipment. There is no key available. The general condition is used and authentic, with visible traces of age and use, commensurate with the age and character of the piece. A decorative and at the same time functional antique vault with strong appearance, local origin and rare artisanal appearance. Collection from mid-May.
