Description
Rare Army Harley!
Harley-Davidson 41WL South African Union Defence Forces.
This is a special order from South Africa at Harley-Davidson because they could not order enough motorcycles in the UK.
These did not go through a land-lease order but ordered directly from the South African government.
She first ordered 3000 motorcycles, which was later reduced to 2350 units.
The motorcycles she ordered were WL models, so no army WLA models but 1941 civilian WL models that had to meet certain army versions. The motorcycle here is version 2 with a longer front fork. The longer front fork and the fat tires were especially for riding in the desert sand.
For more info on this rare model, I refer to Bruce Palmer's book where everything is clearly explained.
Motorcycle comes from a collection where it has been for a very long time, fully checked and restarted last year.
Unique opportunity to obtain a very rare army Harley.
