This is one of the first Apple computers ever made, and part of computer history. The very first GUI machine ever produced. The Apple Lisa 1 machine was revolutionary because it was the first PC that allowed users to interact with the device using the mouse. Although it came with a bulky external hard drive with 5MB of memory - roughly enough to store one song - the 1983 machine was state-of-the-art at the time. It was the brainchild of Steve Jobs who came up with the idea of the mouse and icons after seeing a prototype of a similar Xerox computer while visiting the base in the Silicone Valley. Xerox never put theirs into production, unlike Apple, which sold 100,000 Lisa-1s. Apple said the name Lisa stood for Local Integrated System Architecture, but Jobs later revealed that he named it after his first daughter Lisa, who was born in 1978. A year later, the Lisa-1 was replaced by the Lisa-2, and owners of the first version returned theirs for a free upgrade.
